Terms
Updated 25 October 2026
Rimlight is made by one independent developer. These terms cover your use of the app. By installing or using it, you agree to them.
Who sells it
Dodo Payments sells Rimlight as merchant of record. Dodo takes your payment, charges any sales tax and handles refunds, under its own terms of purchase.
Your license
A license is for one person. You can use Rimlight on the Macs you use yourself, moving the key between them with Deactivate This Mac in the License window. Don't share, sell or publish your key. A team needs one license for each person who uses Rimlight.
The free version needs no key and is limited to 1 set and 10 concepts, with no Icon Composer builds from the app.
What you make
Rimlight claims no rights in your prompts, concepts or icon packages. The images come from OpenAI's image model through Codex, so OpenAI's terms decide what you may do with them.
Services Rimlight depends on
Rimlight works only alongside services that other companies run, each under its own terms:
- Claude Code and your Claude plan, from Anthropic.
- The Codex CLI and your ChatGPT plan, from OpenAI.
- Xcode and Icon Composer, from Apple, for layered builds.
- Dodo Payments, for the purchase and the license key.
Your accounts and plans with those companies are yours, as are their bills and limits. If one of them changes or stops working, parts of Rimlight may stop working too, and I can't promise a fix or a refund outside the refund period.
Updates
Rimlight checks this site for updates and asks before installing one.
No warranty
Rimlight is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows. I don't promise that it will work without errors, that it suits a particular purpose, or that the images it renders will be what you asked for.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, my total liability for any claim about Rimlight is limited to what you paid for it. I'm not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for charges from Anthropic, OpenAI or Apple.
Ending the license
Your license ends if you break these terms, for example by sharing your key. A refund also ends it, and the key stops working.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version goes on this page with a new date.
